Default Overheating issue, suspected Thermostat

Hi Everyone,

Would appreciate a hand with this, my car isn't losing coolant and the oil is clean so I don't suspect head gasket failure (just yet!)

Engine warms up as usual, but keeps going heating up when/if I get stuck in traffic. Can manage it by switching off engine or turning on the heating, when you drive on, it cools again. The auxiliary fans don't cut in. It's never overheated as I can manage it.

Here's where the plot thickens, give it a good rev (read 1st gear drag to 6k), you stop again and the temperature goes back to the usual range and will be absolute fine for the rest of said journey, zero issues, aux fans working in traffic and all.

I imagine it's the Thermostat, which I can trip by creating high pressure (revs). Does that seem right? How much is the part? Is it cheap to replace labour wise?

Thanks for your help!

What year is it mate the fan should kick, look at a zero sport thermostat part and labour should not be that much. Fb tuning for the labour and eBay or some one else will recommend another place to get it from
