Well folks, it's come to this...

Thanks to the IT Contract market bottoming out for people with my skill-base I have a stark choice to make.

Either the house goes or Scooby goes !!!!

So...I guess Scoob, the future looks grim.

What do you boys reckon I could get for my pride (sniff) and joy (choke)...

MY99 "T" Reg.
DBM, fully colour-coded.
Ram-Air filter & Scoobysport exhaust.
Prodrive Handling Pack. (Eibach/Bilstein).
Air-Con.
Quick-shift.
14,000 Miles since May 99. New Bridgestone Potenza RE010's at 12,000 Miles.

The car I always wanted, and one that has done me proud. Suffice to say that if he goes, then I swear in the future I'll replace him with another.

(Sorry if any of you find this upsetting - I know I bloody do).

;{

Regards,
Squizz.

What skillset do you have Squizz? I'm an IT Contractor too (C++/Unix), and one of my colleagues with similar skills is looking for a new job, and the phone hasn't stopped ringing. The opinion seems to be that the market has picked up considerably this year???

So far as the car goes, my guess would be £19K if a UK car, £17K if an import.

Good luck with the sale and the job-market.

Gary.

Red face

Oh for a bit of UNIX...

Thanx for the advice, I've used SPRING IT since March '98 anyway. I'm an IBM COBOL or PL/1, DB2, etc kinda guy. That or VAX COBOL that I cut my teeth on for 10 years.

Currently businesses can pick and choose from hundreds of people like me.

Oof.

Yeah, UK car...

Cheers, anyway.

Thumbs up

Squizz,

If you're a good programmer, you're a good programmer.

Get yourself a few weeks off, buy a cheap C++ or Delphi (my favorite) package, and bang away on that keyboard.

There will be more and more demand for good programmers, not less. This is the information age, remember. You just gotta get to grips with more recent tools. I assure you, programming can even be fun!

(as for the off-topicness: IT, err.., payed for my Scooby <g>)
