5th gear crunch
Also, when im changing gear at speed, not just 4-5th, the revs seem to hold for a second after i take my foot off the throttle! This is my first scooby, so im a bit of a noob to the cars
If the revs are holding, that won't do your gearchange any good!

First thing to do is check the gearbox oil level, the dip stick is to the left/behindish the intercooler.
If its low then thats your issue, I would also get it changed, if its at the right level then you are looking at something more expensive
Also when was the gearbox oil last changed? it has a 2 year oil change on the service interval.

Had exactly the same 4th to 5th crunch issue at higher revs on a MY03 wrx i used to have after the oil levels were checked and found to be ok, try researching baulk rings ? The MY03 wrx with above factory power levels was particularly prone and the car had only done 25k. I part exed the car to a dealer so can't tell you if it got sorted.
