Blue Bug (broken) - Nürburgring 06/05/12
Met a chap called Luke in the car park at the Nürburgring on Sunday. He was having a spot of trouble with his Impreza and we helped him recover the car to his hotel.
He said he was a member on here...
Just want to know if you managed to get the car fixed and back to the UK safely?

I know that guy, we met on the way over on Friday. I was there to and had a spot of bother with mine on Saturday. Got it home just about though. He goes under the name of the_bear1986 if I remember rightly.
Wasn't a good weekend for the both of us it seems.

He did tell me his username but I forgot it... That sounds familiar!
He would have been fine once he found a garage that stocked Subaru parts, but that wasn't too easy on a Sunday. Hopefully he was sorted by the time he was due to leave on Monday.
What problems did you have?

I had a little spin after avoiding some of the local wildlife which damaged the front offside corner. I'm looking at a new bumper, bonnet and headlight and possibly a track rod. I got it back doing a steady 60 all the way so now just getting prices in for parts.

Oh s***!!
I arrived on the Saturday evening and was told a Subaru had been in an off earlier in the day... I'm guessing that was you.
Sorry to hear about the car, but it's good that you were able to walk away from the accident and drive home. All the best with fixing it.

Well I can't say I didn't have more than a few bitburgs after the prang
The steak was great to! I'll definitely go back but as I said before, lesson well and truely lernt!
Hi yeah I got the car back Adam and thank you so much for lending me your belt to get back from the ring I was able to get the Subaru dealer but the belt they stocked was a bit small but go it to fit so I got back to Norwich just after 11pm last night. Did you enjoy the laps I gave you. Wow that's bad mate I did wonder why I didn't see u about on the Sunday hope you get the car fixed quickly as I know what's it like to be without your car.
Glad you got things sorted and made it home OK. I got in at 1:10am this morning and now I wish I'd taken the day off work!
Thank you very much for the laps, that really was an unexpected surprise. After leaving you I went for food and let the rain die down before heading out. I got a 'Check Engine' light and the car cut into safetly mode on lap one, so I then spent an hour or so testing and coming to the conclusion there was nothing wrong with it! By the time I did lap two the rain was back and it was very heavy. Cars in front were hudden by spray and it took me half a lap to find my feet, but once I got going the challenge of the rain made it great fun!
As I got ready for lap three they closed the circuit due to fog coming down. Never mind, I'll be back again before the year is out
See you there???
Adam.

Depends if you include the price of 2 bit of barrier?! Ferry was £39, Norfolkline to Dunkirk. Hotel was €69 for two nights sharing a triple room. 4 lap card is €90 something? Plus a few fuel fill ups and food. I've actually got 2 laps remaining on my card if anyone fancies them? Call it £30? Make sure you do have some spare cash though for the 'just incase' moments, speaking for personal experience it can get pricey if you hit anything. Or if you are going off aim for the tyres! There free! O and the going rate for barrier is currently €420 per 4 metres.
Lol @ aim for the tyres, I'll bear that in mind :-).....
Ferry is mega expensive for when we go, might have something to do with the olympics. £85 return from Dover.
Also what brakes are you running on your car ??

There's something for every budget there so shop around and find what suits you, but the overall cost will come down to how many laps you want to do, how hard you want to party in the evening, and whether or not you plan to have an accident!
Make sure you know what you're getting yourself into should things go wrong on the track. A good place to start is Ben Lovejoy's website. Make sure you read every single page!!

I'm only running standard discs at the moment with the brembo calipers, only thing for me about going for the bluestuff pads is apart from the ring trip I don't plan on taking it on track after so don't know if their worth spending the extra money on...
And if you've got any questions / worries / need advice / decent hotels or resturant guides, try Northloop.co.uk and the forum therein.
As a newbie, it is not somewhere that you attack, instead treat the corners like you would a quick A-road, brisk, but with plenty in reserve and give yourself options to assess a corner before you're in it!
Enjoy the straights and don't even bother timing yourself.
The 'Ring is as much about the experience of going as it is about driving hard. They say it takes about 50 laps to learn the track, so no point in going bananas first time out.
Look at the calendar and make sure that tourist laps are available when you are there.
Given the cost of going, see if you can piggy back a Spa trackday onto the trip.
