can i use an sti steering rack and which models can the steering rack from from to fit onto my hawkeye wrx?

 

I think all steering racks change in 2005 to have a different mounting system. The locating brackets are parts of the body casting instead of U shaped clamps. So my opinion is that you need one later than 2005 for your car.

The mounting points are the same even on the racks with the set up you describe. I have just fitted a hawkeye quick rack to my classic subframe, it is the later style with one of the mounts being integral to the rack it bolts straight on just a case of throwing away one bracket and bush. The same will be the case on earlier newage cars.

 

The mounting points change when you go to the hatch, even tried one of them, it could be made to fit but just to much hassle.
