As above I`m wanting to know the differences in the gear sets between a 752 and a 754, and are the gears interchangable??

Basically I have both in my garage, and both have their own issues, but they have different ones. So can I swap the gears from one to the other, or would I need to strip down the gear sets and swap the individual gears, or have I no chance lol???


Also the STI box with LSD front diff, can the diff be put into a normal gearbox 754 gearbox, without Dccd???

What I would like to do is rebuild the 754 box I have, as I don`t want 6-speed, but making a semi dog box with syncro 4th and 5th with 5th being a longer UK gear, with a LSD front diff.

Am I being mad or just have wishful thinking??

Right I have found out the gear sets aren`t a straight swap as is, so thats one less question.

 

You won't be able to make a 'semi' dog box as they run on different shafts and you either : cannot put dog gears on a standard shaft, or standard gears on a dog shaft. Gotta be one or t'other.

Who says you have a front LSD? they were never fitted as standard, always an aftermarket or dealer option, when new. Later 6 speed cars have LSD in the front. But a plated Lsd in the front of a 5speed is very unfriendly to use on a road car unless it is set to loose as to be almost not working.

There is no swapover from 752 gears to 754 gears using some of these and some of those to make a hybrid. Theoretically it can be done if you have piles of gears and boxes such as we have, but the chances to do it with just 2 boxes to work from is quite unlikely.
