Default Sti top mounts worth it?

Thinking of upgrading my intercooler but heard you get a bit of lag and a few other niggly probs with a front mount! Is it even worth upgradin a standard terzo intercooler to an sti one? Whats difference if i can expect one?

Thanks in advance

changing the intercooler alone wont give you instant gains , its just more efficient cooling when producing more power . going with fmic shouldnt cause lag if mapped to suit ? alot of people think because the hard pipes are longer then it causes lag ? but i believe this is a myth ? and maybe to do with the fact they didnt get remapped ? please correct me if im wrong peeps ?

You are not wrong.
Speak to decent tuners, mappers etc, they will say the same thing.

But if fitting a FMIC and possibly new turbo, you WILL need a remap. Trust me, not doing so will be FAR more expensive than the remap

Cheers guys. Ok well i roughly know what i want but just nt sure what order to go in. In aware mapping is very important after making significant changes, just want sure if a turbo and intercooler upgrade would require any internal supporting engine changes

I saw your other tread about modding your engine. Come up with a combination or what exactly you want to do and we will try and give you advice etc. But you need to have some idea to begin with lol.

Yeah suppose it would help. In a nutshell i want 300 bhp but im put off now as the standard ecu on my car cant be mapped so ive been told. So technically is 300 bhp even possible on a standard ecu?
