1995 wrx loud whine coming from gearbox diff?

1995 wrx loud whine coming from gearbox diff?
My 1995 wrx wagon has a loud whine when driving and the faster i go the louder it gets, its coming from gearbox area but is not wheel bearings, any ideas? thanks
