Default anyone in somerset area with version 5/6 ecu i can borrow?

hello there,
i've got this problem with my 1999 uk turbo 2000 where it runs really badly and when i do a diagnostic check i get the 23 code for the maf, i've checked the loom and there are no breaks in it and i have fitted a brand spanking new maf, restted the ecu and still no joy.

i'm now thinking its the ecu but don't really want to spend loads of money on an ecu just to check it.
any ideas or anyone got one i can borrow just to check, or cheap and i'll buy it to check?
any help would be much apprecieated, cheers

Hi, thanks for the reply
At the moment it won't idle with the maf plugged in and if you try to keep the revs up it is popping n banging missing etc and if you take the connector off it will only idle when warm and sounds alot smoother but in both cases when I try to drive it as soon as you accelerate it will missfire badly.
I do have a 2.5 bottom end in it running with the standard ecu (until i get my autronic mapped) but it ran like a dream until I changed the gearbox, thought this bigger engine might explain why it runs so badly with a knackered maf? Sound about right?

did the symptoms start directly after the replacement box was fitted? im sure a dodgy neutral position switch can cause problems and re-check your earths too.

Ok nice one, will check that also as soon as I can, will a dodgy lambda sensor / wiring cause it to run that bad tho? Only, when it had mot last year it failed because of a knackered lambda sensor and the car really well only had problems with emissions. Thanks again!

if its disconnected yes potentially
Was it idling oK on the standard ecu with all those upgradeS??
,id would have thought it wouldnt run at all as it set up for 440 injectors on a 2.0 and your ej257 with 1000cc injectors??

yea it ran sweet as a nut, the ecu cuts the boost to around 10 psi to compensate for the increase in cc's not that i booted it really, was only for running engine in.
however, i have got standard 440cc yellows in at the moment as the 1000's are for the same time the autronic goes in and gets mapped.
sorry for the confusion, it was ok before anyhow, cheers

Sounds like it has an intake leak after the maf sensor. Check and double check all the pipework and vacum hoses
