bought a 1996 jap import wrx. recently been getting the cel come on when the engine is at normal running temp ****s me up when i see it cos just assume something is gonna be massively wrong. read the codes myself and its coming out that its a dodgy knock sensor. the car runs fine when the light is off but as soon as it appears it becomes quite sluggish and the turbo doesnt seem to be as affective. would the knock sensor cause this to happen?
never had an imperza before so i dont really know anything about them just know they can be expensive if there wrong so now abit paranoid it might be something massive.
what do ya recon any kind of help would be appreciated!!

 

the knock sencor on the classic are not hard to change mate it sits at the back of the engine one bolt holds it on.you will have to remove the intercooler to get it,you prob pick one up for pennies so its worth changing it not the end of the world....

 

You need to check what code(s) have been stored by connecting the plugs under the steering coloum,

do you think the symptoms im getting with the car would be down to a faulty knock sensor mate?
new to these cars just worried it might be somthing more serious

 

It could be, if its giving you a code for the knock sensor there must be a fault with it.
I would change it.
