Default Handbrake switch?

Right, my handbrake light started to be permenantly illuminated a few days ago and I`ve now (I think) sussed the fault. Regarding my turbo timer, if I take the keys out with the handbrake applied the timer runs down as it should. If I take the keys out with the handbrake off the engine shuts off, again as it should. Well now, if I take the keys out with the handbrake off.....the timer runs down......sooooooo it`s gotta be the handbrake switch sticking, yes? If so, where do I find it? Ta

There is a switch, it a little white, (on my classic), plastic thingummy, at the base of the h/b lever.

You'll need to open the centre arm-rest cubby, prise up and remove two screw covers, remove screws, and then lift the rear odf the centre trim, (the one with the mirror switches on etc) from the rear, it then CLIOPS out at it''s front, which is behind the gear lever.

Probably just a bit of dust or grit in the switch.

That's it. I'd remove it and clean it out if you can. Probably got the terminals stuck, or summat.

A new one wouldn't be too dear, scrappers or even dealer?

I had a issue with my light staying on,it was my brake fluid level warning sensor located in the brake fluid cap under the bonnet

There again.....still doesn`t explain why my turbo timer doesn`t shutdown when I take the handbrake off Maybe it`s a faulty switch AND low fluid d`oh.

Topped fluid up, light went out eventually and now the turbo timer shuts down if I drop the handbrake like it should. The `low level` light staying on must have confused the timer into thinking the handbrake was still on I suppose.

Just need to keep an eye on the fluid level now just in case it`s losing.
