Default CV Joint Assembley

Hi Everyone

I was changing the cv boot on the outer joint ( the one that you can plunge in and out ) on my spare driveshaft and accidently pulled it apart , my question is does it just slide back on , i noticed that there is a large clip inside the workings , where does this go , i have just slip the casing back on and wiggled it about but it seems to not moves as freely with this clip inside and catches every now and then . any help is much needed as its booked in on wednesday to have the shaft changed,

Just in case anyone does this the clip goes in a groove at the top of the barrel to stop the arm from sliding all the way out,I must of give it one he'll of a pull to get it out because you normally need a hammer to get the joint apart .

you are correct mate the clip recceses into the drive shaft its to stop it from popping out but dont worry if it comes of to easy you can probably fit a joint without a clip not recomemded but the shaft will not come out to many other parts hold it in place
