Which OBD II Reader
Following a CEL this morning there is no way I am giving main dealer £53 just to read the code, thankfully found a tuner near me that only charges £10 but i have decided to get one myself, a quick search on google sees them ranging from £17 upwards, the one in Halfords is £139 but they cannot let me know how much my trade card will knock off until i go in.
All i want to do is read it and reset it and found these:

Any good? What do you all have?

I got one from ebay, cost £20 and has worked fine the couple of times i have used it.
Identifies the codes and erased them.
I had a few come up from an oil change when the crank sensor was disconnected, and i also get one from having the cats removed.

I got one of these eventually.

Think I got mine from fleabay for £45 though.
Bought one from Argos for £80 prior to this that worked a treat. Benefit of the Autel unit is it can log live data as well.

thanks for all the replies, good to see the general concensus is you can use these and you dont need to spend £100s on one. I do think in terms of the correct term the CEL should be renamed the UhOh light
The Cell is a pain in the **** as it never flashes up to say "Hi" or "Wow", it is a very pessimistic little ******, but if it wasnt for this you would likely be looking at £1'000s in engine builds, so got to respect it!

I can recommend the ELM 327 based bluetooth code reader and android app called Torque. Allows codes to be read and reset as well as live ECU data all on a android smartphone - very impressive and can be left in the car as its only a tiny device.
Bluetooth device is about £20 and app is about £3

You can buy them on ebay HERE
Im new to smartphones myself to be honest, if your Nokia is an android phone with bluetooth then I am pretty sure it will work. See if the app "Torque" is available, there is a free version so you can make sure it installs on your phone. The fully function version is only a couple of quid so worth buying if all is OK.
Im sure you will be as impressed as I was for a total spend of just over £20
