Default hard to get into 1st

after a short run yesterday my wifes 94 wrx jdm decided it would become almost impossable to shift into 1st gear second was also a bit stiff.i had a good look over it today topped up the gearbox oil (it was over the min but not by much) after this second was fine,i checked the gear linkage and thats fine so im thinking its the syncro on 1st gear, reading through the forums i cant seem to find info on changing it as i cant seem to find a manual for these early cars.any help would be greatfully receved. the gearbox code is EF-TY752VB3AA

Hi, we have a 99 plate sport which we have owned for 11 years, 1st has always been stuborn, even reverse when cold sometimes.

Had the clutch changed at 100k, car now done 152k and it is still the same.
Just learned to live with it, slip it into 2nd then back into 1st.

I have been told by a good friend who worked a for a Subaru dealer that it was "the nature of the beast"

Sorry probably not the answer you wanted, only other thing i can think of is a oil change.

Mine does it now and again. Try double de-clutching when it won't go in. i.e. put it in neutral, lift clutch pedal up, clutch pedal down and put it in to gear.
