buddy,
I know what you`re on about, my quote has also gone up by 20% over last year`s despite me making no claims, having turned 30 and having protected no claims.
My insurance company, (Norwich Union direct) told me it was down to these "accident claims" clowns who basically sue on behalf of injured parties in an attempt to gain compensation post accidents. It`s been happening in the States for ages and now it`s over here.
All you can do is shop around and try to reduce your premium. Try to increase your excess in an attempt to lower your premium, forego windscreen cover etc.. it all helps.
Good luck.

Blimey, thats a lot of money you're paying. Have you got a chequered history for insurance? or have my dreams of owning an STi one day gone up in smoke?

Be very wary from endsleigh, they quoted me £2140, 23, 97 turbo, prodrive exhaust, chip, 17", Tracker response + Scorpion cat 1 alarm + imobiliser, 4yr NCD + Clean license. Said yes then they added 13% for payment over 12 mts Total : £2470!! ,not happy!! , Norich union are the only real company to deal with (ensleigh use Norwich Union PLC for underwriting) so i'd give them a ring direct. Regards....

Endsleigh quoted me £400 cheaper than NU and thats after I told them about the full exhaust I'm planning. If you mail me off line I'll give you the number of the branch I use.

They never charged me for Installments

Try Privilege.

Very good quote.

Be warned.. If your are desperate for the certificate .. Ie registering a new car.

They are not that quick at delivering the certificate as they say the will be. just add 2 days to what ever they say.

this may be a bad sign dunno. Quote was good !

Don't bother with NFU. They don't touch imports (at least they didn't when I rang them).

I was with AXA through A-Plan (01494-677776). Just got renewal through - down from 950 to 640. Car was an STi 5 Type R with various mods (exhaust, wheels, susp etc). 29yrs old, 3 points, 5yrs NCB. Very good service too.

Hey buddy,

***** and ****** and ******** and *******!!!

(just saw your other post and had to laugh!!)

I made the mistake of getting the cheapest quote - only to realise that in a few months ill be adding mods to the car - and they wont accept mods. Make sure mods are OK if you plan to do them - dont get a nasty surpise like i did!!

Just rang A-plan regarding mods on a 93 WRX. I'm with AXA through A-plan and declared a 99 spec spoiler, fogs and sti wheels plus clear indicators and Momo steering wheel. Last years quote was £795 (30, with full no claims)but the mods have just cost me £94 extra They said this was due mainly to the spoiler and wheels but they are standard subaru fitment on later cars How much would a 97 spec bonnet and headlights cost me? Don't even want to think about power upgrades Oh well, at least they're declared now and they can't use it as an excuse not to pay out in the event of a claim which is the most important bit

Ok....This is going to sound like a joke, but ...

Try Tesco's on 0845 3009900, they gave me £1015 recently for a brand new Scooby including upgrading the wheels to P1's. I was 29, 6 points, 2 Years NCB. They do insist on a tracking device though.....

...so you are not trying to defraud your insurer now you have declared all the mods.....which is the most important bit. "Utmost good faith" - what's that.....??

I knew someone who got into an argument with their insurance because their clear indicators hadn't been declared. Be warned, at lot of them will try and find any excuse not to pay so why give them one? AXA were very interested in the Momo steering wheel even though the one I took off was the Nardi racing one that came as standard, so I wasn't disabling the airbag or anything

Buddy

I sent a post that most people seemed to have ignored re insurance;

This may sound mad, but try Barclays on 0870 600 1414.

Topic: Insurance - The great debate

Tell me what happens.

It's all Declan Swan's fault. Little sh*t.

I'll second those who voted for Frizzell / Liverpool Victoria. I'm paying £680, aged 29, > 6 years NCD, not garaged, class A business use. Nearest quote was Privelege - £1000...
