I have just bought a carbon and alloy genuine STi strut brace for my classic to replace the steel unknown brand brace. The only problem I have is that the STi brace has big spacers attached to the underside of the brace at each monting point. The brace I took off didn't have these spacers.

It means that the brace mounting plates are not in contact with the strut tops and the thread from the mounting bolts does not quite reach the top of the bolts - is this correct or sholud I remove the spacers?

These spacers are supposed to be on top, as they do full out when removed frequently. Mine when I purchased it came loose so fitted them myself, try Gently to push them out and pop them on to the top. They need these for a secure fit to stop flex movement on the strutt/brace mount point, If you leave these out you may as well not bother fitting the brace at all.

 

Thanks for the replies, the only issue I have is that the strut bolts do not protrude above the nuts, I was always lead to believe that threads should generally protrude from the nuts?
