i've just had to take the 6 speed out of my classic as it would not select reverse, and after opening found a broken selector folk
Whilst I had it apart i was thinking of changing the 4th,5th & 6th synchro's(not that i needed too as all gears apart from reverse selected fine) but when looking at the gearsets was wondering if they had already been done, below is a pic of 3rd and 4th synchro, can anyone tell from the pic if the 4th gear is an uprated one? just seemed strange that 4,5 & 6 look different from all the others.



Also to add to my problem i cant order the parts from subaru unless i give them a reg or chassis number, all I know is it's from a 2002 uk sti, so can anyone tell me the part numbers for the Reverse selector folk & selector ring?

Merely looking at them, one is clearly much newer than the other, I think you are right.

Later boxes used an uprated part.
