Brake caliper help please
Hi well to cut a long and annoying story short the imboseal who owned my car previous has rounded the head on the caliper bolt that bolts the caliper to the hub i have managed to get the top bolt out but the bottom is to far gone 17mm just spins and 16 wont go on even with abit of persuasion with the hammer. Does any one have any ideas on how i can get the bolt out i can grind it off as i have a set of 4 pots going on in place of the 2 pots so im not fussed about damaging the caliper just dont want to damage the hub, but does the bolt thread through the hub or is it just the caliper it threads into any help really appreciated and needed thanks.
The bolts do screw into the caliper so you would be ok removing the head.Id only do this as a last resort as you don't want to damage the hub.
Try applying some heat with a blow lamp and use some grips to remove the bolt.

Yes that was my main worry damaging the hub i think i have a blow touch sosme were i will have a go with that then 1st and get some mole grips on it but it looks pritty seized and the fact the head on the bolt is so fxxcked it would suggest it wont budge easily

Arron, give Alyn at AS Performance a ring, tell him what you're doing (4 pot upgrade) and he should have the correct size bolts in stock for a very reasonable price. Does delivery too.

Hi mate thanks i got hold of Ian and he is sorting me out some bolts. I didnt know the bolts were different i thought they were all the same length etc on classics as the 4 pots seem to line up the same and they are the same thickness were they bolt to the hub
