Failed cambelt tensioner???

Some advice please.....
After giving the car some stick I noticed a rattling sound from the engine, pulled over and it sounds like a bag of bolts. Small amount of oil has leaked out but the car idles fine and all gauges are normal.
Dealer seems to think failed hydraulic cambelt tensioner (or worse) - sounds reasonable???
