thermostat needed in oil cooler?

Without doubt gus,if you don't it will hold oil temps low for alot longer from starting cold and when slow driving.

If you went FMIC and put the oil cooler where the TMIC was, at the top of the engine, would the heat from the engine balance the problem out or would you still have to amend it in some way in the winter?
