Hi all,

I have a 1996 Subaru WRX Wagon Auto. The other week, it started to rev out in top gear - the box has 4 gears.

Then I lost all drive in 3rd and 4th gears - it simply wouldn't shift up, and I had to nurse it home in 2nd gear for about 5 miles.

I phoned a few gearbox places up, who could't really help over the phone, so I decided to drain the ATF fluid, and I changed the gear/diff oil too.

This didn't make any difference

So, I managed to get a 2nd hand box - same code on it as my own.

I collected it, and my pal fitted it this weekend.

Hey presto - same problems - no 3rd or 4th gears. Now it has packed up altogether after just a few miles and there is no drive at all

Can anyone help please, or has anyone encountered similar problems?

I'm told it could be a solenoid, but I'm not sure at all.......
