Default AP Racing organic clutch

Hi
I have a AP Racing 240mm organic clutch in my 2.5 STI running 460/480. In slow moving traffic (Stop Start) and around car parks, garage forecourts where I have to use the clutch a lot I'm getting a bad burning smell which seems to be getting worse. Is this normal on these clutches or do I have a problem?

Hi mate.

Normal; if there is no unruly behaviour, juddering etc... they can stink!! Price you pay for running all that torque! My standard clutch started to stink to high heaven backing up my inclined driveway, after Bob got it to 380 lbs ft, but it was also doing the Subaru judder!

Only solution is to reacquaint yourself with good ole Mr Handbrake!

I'm soon gonna have the same problem!

You'd have to ask David! I'm letting him get on with it.....more or less!

Yep, certainly am; it's the only single plate clutch man enough for the job as far as I know. Beyond that you get into twin plate clutches, which are very robust, but result in a car that is not as easy to drive; very sudden take up etc...
