Default Legacy transmission ratio

Hi
Newbie here. I have a '94 BG3 (EJ18) Trans code: TY752VWAAA (and diff code: VA1REF-XG for what that's worth!). So by the code I can see it's a Man 4WD, 75 mm shaft spacing, 4-bolt, 5-sp. But it's the AAA part I don't fully understand. My problem is this ... I need to replace the transmission with same (4.111:1), but can't find the exact same code (can find plenty of TY752VW... but not AAA).

So my question ... if I can find another TY752VW with 4.111 ratio, will it work with no problems? eg: I'm told a TY752VWBAA 4.111 will work fine (but someone else says it won't!). Will it work? I'm a complete novice and will have a mechanic do the work so don't want to stuff up at great expense!

In a nutshell ... if I find a TY752VW box that I know to be 4.111 but with the last 3 letters not AAA, will it be OK?

Thanks!

Thanks 2ndgear, that gives me a little more assurance. Anyone else care to comment?
