Default 2011 Sallon vs. others test

So i've shortened this battle vid from Best Motoring 2010-11 .....
For you who don't know what is B Motoring....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Best_Motoring

And the video ofcourse....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxIa8J3Jmxg

In my opinion Sti sallon did well, as other cars where tweaked or had more BHP, 350/350 saloon would be a quite a competitive match for all of them.

I totally agree, and the Evo, in all fairness, was close on the tail of the M3 and looked a match.

Nice find, as said think they faired quite well considering the power/cost of the opposition.

Would have been better if it was a 300bhp evo to compare.

Yes the other cars had more power, but at the end of the day, some didn't have awd either, basically they got owned

Just to point out that these are the 2ltr twin scroll cars and not the 2.5's

very dissapointing to watch, subaru used to bang on all the time that they wanted to match the m3's of the world and the new car seems to be going even further backwards. maybe one day they'll up there game again and finally try to push on with there last sports car.

M3 is is the best part of £50,000. RWD work much better on tack than it does on a B road

Agree... A proper driver with the RWD can be way faster on a track....B roads is another story.....

Nurburgring M3 CSL 7.51 vs Spec C 7.59

Those were the old figures, not sure if they have put the latest M3 around but the latest JDM did the "Ring" in 7.55

It doesn't have to be M3 there are many more nicely balanced examples....

STI 7.55
M3 7.57

Interesting to watch, but it wasn't really a like for like test when you consider prices/power outputs. Even today the motoring press consider the scooby to be a better all round and the Evo to be a track focussed car and a little less bearable day-to-day. ATEOTD it's horses for courses, what do you want the car to do and how much can you afford

Maybe the R205 would of been a better match

Bollocks mate, on that particular track it really is an advantage powering out of all those tight corners.

that evo was the light weight version also!
has no stereo,windy windows etc.
so 300 bhp full trim STi vs 360 RS Evo um bit unfair.
and the m3 had 120Bhp more.
Was abit dissopointed with the hatch tho, crap start
But the results really dont mean much could of just been down to the driver,
i like the video from best motoring spec c vs evo rs they were match to match, there isnt much in both theses car's when there the same model lol

I thought the Evo did well as its best lap was less than 0.1 seconds slower than the M3 which had more power. It started behind the M3 and finished the race just as close to the M3.
