I'm considering dropping my Scoob on its @rse and adding wide 17" wheels with stretched(ish) tyres similar to what the NASIOC newage boys have been doing of late.
So my Q is; I'm aware that the classic won't take quite as wide a wheel as the newage so whats the best width rim to run and what offset? Also what size tyre and what brand is best?
I've already got rolled lips on my arches and DON'T want to run 'bolt on' arches at all.
I know there are haters out there who disagree with this etc etc so lets keep this on topic please
as I like the style.........

You won't get a response from Maggy tonight, it's drink'o'clock, and I suspect he'll be a little worse for wear in the morning
With some camber and arch mods you might even get away with and 8.5" if you don't got too mad on the offset

I usually go 'fuzzy' the day after the night before
At the mo I'm only running standard shocks with -30 Apex springs and am currently sat on 8x18 Inovite redlines with 215/35/18 tyres. Going to be investing in some BC coilovers in the new year so I can get it sitting where I want it!

I found these pics from our friends over the pond....
I know its a wagon but getting the wheels sitting something a bit like this (bit less camber on the front though)

Its apparently on 8.5x17 with 205/40/17s et13 (track narrowed by 15mm each side on the rear) with -1.8º camber rear and -3º camber front. Am I right taking into account the 15mm shortened axle that 8.5x17 et circa 28/30 will sit the same and allow me to run less camber on the front?
