Default 4Pot Brake Problem

Hi i have a 96 uk turbo impreza, with the 4 pot front calipers, although the offside one has knackered up, i believe one or more of the pistons on it have seized open so the brake is locked on and scrape like mad, now doing a bit of research ive found it seems like a common problem and ive found a seal kit that you can buy but just wanting to know how straightforward they are to sort? i know replacements arent cheap, and my mechanic who normally does my work says theyre a pain in the **** to recondition, but i thought id ask other scooby owners and see what they think,

thanks, dan

Speak to Ian at Godspeed as he can supply all seals and new pistons, and can also refurb your calipers to a better than new condition.

Here`s mine he did.

Hi
As Jim says , I can supply you the parts needed to do them , or fully reconditioned calipers on an exchange basis.
The chrome on the standard pistons is very thin , this wears off over the years and leaves an uncoated steel that rusts up seizing the calipers , we make our own stainless steel pistons here that will never rust which cures the problem.

We can supply you the 8 stainless steel pistons for £100 a set , and seals for £19.50 per caliper , bleed nipples are £2.50 each
Or we can supply you fully reconditioned calipers any colour you want for £229 a pair , with a refundable deposit of £125
P&P is £12.50
We have calipers in stock ready to send
