Default Different handbrake shoes with 2 pots ?

have a 95 wrx, i have 2 pots for the rear to put on.
i know i need to buy the bracket kit to fit them, but will my original handbrake shoes still be o.k to use on the biger discs (is the disc hub where the handbrake pads go the same size even tho the caliper pad surface is bigger ? )

cheers

Hi
Yes if you use a 2001 onwards WRX rear discs you retain your original handbrake shoes , you would only need to change the shoes if you fitted the Type R rear discs , both types are 290mm , but the handbrake is larger on the type R

cheers.
Bloody typical,the setup i bought was from a Type R 1998,well,advertised from a type R but were black,which i thought Type R 2 pots were factory painted red ?

i suppose i could measure the hand brake shoe hub and see if its the same as the disc i take off ?

so i need to buy some 2001 + wrx rear discs really ?

bugger

cheers

Its cheaper to buy new discs than the thicker handbrake shoes , I sell grooved rear discs for £85 a pair , and the thicker handbrake shoes are £125 a set
The type R calipers were mostly black , mine were , the 22b , and the later WRX's had red ones , they are the same calipers only a different colour

cheers, looks like i`ll be contacting you soon for some discs :-)

just out of interest, are the handbrake shoes just thicker (have more meat on them) or actually bigger/longer ?

what kind of diameter difference would i see, using my tape measure to see if the discs i get are of a Type R not the smaller wrx ones (handbrake shoe wise) ?

cheers again, nothings ever simple is it LOL

The handbrake shoes are the standard sized frames so they fit your backplates , but the material is 10mm thicker , the WRX disc has a 170mm handbrake , and the type R is 190mm
