It's almost time to get some new tyres for the Mrs JCW Mini.

To date she has only ever had Dunlop DSST run-flats, 205/40/18.

I was considering changing her over to standard tyres, which would offer better road holding and feed back.
I've heard that a better size should I go for a standard tyre is 215/34/18??
Just a little concerned, as there is no spare wheel in the Mini!

My questions are;
1- Has anyone any experience of Tyre-weld?
Does the Tyre-weld can re-inflate the tyre after a puncture?
After using the tyre-weld, can you have the puncture fixed?
2- Any other run flat brands I should try?
Can get a good price on Avon run flats! (just not sure what they're like)

Any opinions/advice welcome

Not sure but I have a suspicion that the rims are specific to run flats and you may have to get new ones for conventional tyres. I could well be wrong but worth checking first.

i have had alot of my customers dithch their runflats and go for the standard tyre , they have told me that the cars are now a much smoother drive and not as noisy and the drivability is better. they all carry tyre weld and a compressor now in the boot

obviously tyre weld has its limitations . it will seal nailholes an small tears , not golfball sized holes on sidewalls(yes i have seen it )

the compressor is also a good idea to inflate the tyre after tyre weld injection as some cans do nowt .

you can repair the tyre after tyre weld has been used . it just means the tyre guy has to clean it all out (which alot wont and tell you you need a new tyre ) its only a liquid gel and is easily cleaned away , even though it states on some cans that you cant repair them (thats more for if you have driven on the soft tyre , but with a compressor you can pump it up to correct pressure befoe driving to a tyre depot )

avon runflats are ok , not brilliant in the wet but good in the dry
