Default Adding a manual spotlight

Does anyone know where i can find out the legality of fitting a manual spotlight to my 4 X 4.

I take my 4X4 over some rough ground at knight and could do with a bit of added light to see around me and was wondering if their is any law to stop me.

Any idea in the right direction would be helpful.

We can but hope.

A5h - if your 4x4 is used on the public highway, whatever you fit to it would theoretically have to be MOT compliant.

To this end, "spotlights" are legally classified as main beam headlights. You can fit additional units to the front provided they are suitably approved, can illuminate only when main beam is selected, and provided the overall luminosity index is below a certain number.

This will tell you all you need to know.

If you're talking about something you're going to clip on when you go offroading, and take off when you come out onto the road (or an offroader that is trailered to/from), then you can do what you like. Unless you're competing in a competition that imposes limits on lighting.

You can fit a spotlight out of the roof, with a handle that controls it from the inside, alot of shooters have them on there 4x4s. Its so they can search the hills when shooting. Dont know if this is what your talking about..
