Can you get J hook discs, to fit the standard front & rear Brembo set-up?

 

Some of the backstreet cnc machine shop setups can give you any "design" you want - I wouldn't fit them to my car though.

The J hook design is AP's new groove design , I haven't seen anyone make standard fit discs grooved to this design.

Yes I guess you could take it to any backstreet CNC shop to have them copied , the same as a certain person has done with the Performance Friction discs and given them a fancy name , oh the irony lol .

The grooves are designed to get rid of the gas build up given off the pads , this gas can build up between the discs and pads and push the pads off the discs causing brake fade , grooves will help stop this happening , the softer the pad material the more grooves you need to dispurse the gases , you start putting too many grooves in a disc then the performance will suffer as you dont have enough surface area for the pads to bite on.

On racing cars ect,that the J hook design was made for , your fitting pads that are very hard and can cope with extreme temperatures , pads like these won't give off the amount of gases a fast road pad would , so you will see much smaller grooves as the need for gas dispersion isn't as great .

I have been using 6 curved grooves in our discs for quite a while now and find an ideal set-up between reliability , performance and gas dispersion , if you fit small grooves you can with mild fast road pads end up filling the grooves with brake dust which need regular cleaning out , we don't find this a problem with a full length groove.
