I have an as yet unmodified P1. What are the performance advantages of changing the exhaust system and/or adding a dump valve? Are there any disadvantages, such as increased wear/stress on engine? Recommendations please

Of course I have only added a Prodrive P1 backbox to my car as anything else would invalidate the warranty.

This mod allows the car to rev more freely. Don't know about outright power /torque increases, but definitely noticeable. Sounds nice too.

Word has it that a downpipe would allow the turbo to spin up a bit sooner, and there would be an increase in torque too. A worthwhile modification.

Dump valve - No real increase in power but I am told makes the car more driveable and you will notice the car gets on boost more quickly on gear changes.

Thumbs up

I put a decat downpipe and HKS Super Drager on my P1 (when I had it) and I found the boost came in nearly 1000rpm earlier. And seemed to keep going closer to the top end too

Dump valve wise - HKS SSQV all the way - the tartiest dump valve around!

Hope this helps, Alex
