I am going to re-furb my callipers, 4pots and 2pots.

What are the pros and cons with powder coating and painting?

Has anyone powder coated their callipers? is there any problems with this?

Or would a professional paint be better?

The cheapest and easiest way is to do them yourself you whereas powder coating will require specialist equipment.

Recently had mine just resprayed with 2pac paint results were good just have to see how well it stands up to heat and brake dust (painted by a mate who's a sprayer).

I used good old Hamerite red spray. A little shinier than the standard red caliper colouring from something like the Hawkeye but 6 months on and still look fresh and as good as when I first did them.

 

Srsport, did you strip the calipers down to spray them?

 

Not completely but certainly so it was completely smooth and clean. Most of the Subaru embossed side was stripped down. I also cleaned out the pistons and replaced 1 that was beginning to stick. New seals all round and a can of Hamerite and its been good ever since.

Thanks. The lettering is the difficult bit. The number of times I made a mistake only to think that I had to do the whole thing again as the white paint ran over the red. I was very tempted to leave it at that but in the end pleased I didnt.

 

powder coating is a stronger coating and will last longer, I powder coat all my calipers i recondition and sell as they look better also in my opinion,

 

Given the choice I would have them powder coated but considering the £ saving I couldn't justify that. I personally prefer the painted look as it is glossier but like you said not as hard wearing and would require more maintenance.
