OK Guys, it looks like Starship Impreza and I are taking over from Marcus in organising the trip.

There's no plan at the moment but our man on the island (Rosco) has suggested the Ryde Castle (in Ryde)as a hotel, and it looks and sounds quite nice though there's no pool We will endeavour to organise a group discount on the rooms.

We were thinking about going over at the beginning of September.

Since so many people stayed in the hotel in Southampton last year, how about going for 2 nights?
meet at the docks for "say" 7 o'clock ferry, then we have time to get to the hotel and hit the bar or bed by 8.30/9.00

Then we get the second night out on the town (if that's your thing) without all the drivers falling asleep!!!

We would get a whole two days there instead of one and a half and No early starts

Maybe head for the 5 o'clock ferry home as some would have quite a long drive ahead of them.

What do you lot think?
Anyone up for this? The last one was a really good laugh

Iain/Gary.

Iain

We stayed at the Ryde Castle Hotel a few years back - big car park etc - in fact we drove past it last time - it was near the photoshoot on the seafront. It's under new management now but sounds just about right!

We are keen on this - yes sir!

First of all, thanks to Iain and Gary for taking this on.
Just so everyone knows, the reason for my ducking out is, as some of you know, I'm split between the UK and USA, which makes sorting out this stuff, well, not easy, plus I'm a lightweight

Suffice to say that if I'm in the country at the time, count me in. I'm more than happy to book a place and then have to give it up to someone else at a later date.

Oh, and guys, the official name for the trip is:

IOW 2: Return of the Scooby

Was going to be revenge but we all know that revenge leads to the dark side

once again, cheers guys.

As remembered yesterday, don't forget it's normally TRAX the first weekend of September (not sure when it is yet this year).

Rosco,
If you're lurking on here, what's the current prices for petrol on the IOW and one assumes you can get Optimax somewhere on the island.

Kim,
Good point about the beer money, I best start saving now!

Hi Markus just reading through. There is an Optomax garage in Newport, I think the only one. Used it last time we were there. On the main road out to the ferrys.

The terrible two some - Beer and Petrol.

Will many folks be doing the SIDC IoM trip in September though? I doubt I will be able to do both

I'm not doing the SIDC Manx birthday bash. It's simply too far for me.

fingers crossed I can make IOW, sods law says I'll be in the USA, but I'm planning on taking some holiday, so if I'm in the USA I'll fly back just for the IOW trip, madman that I am!

ChrisB,
I will try to arrange it so it doesn't clash with the IoM or Trax, but I suspect the IoM (as Marcus says) is a little to far for most of us Shandy drinkers

Are there any dates people can't make in September?
(Andy O, I know your away the second weekend)

Iain.

This will be more of a social trip, though some nice roads are included.
We will get to see the sights of the IoW and have a nice drive between them.

Could well be a cheaper option than the IoM then. I'm interested to find out more.

Gary & Iain,
Sorry about you guys getting *serverly* nagged into doing this (hope that the girls are not reading this, otherwise I'm a dead man! )

Thanks for doing it though. I do want a place though, as I might be in the UK, and if not, then I will try and fly back especially for it!
