Alloy Fender Braces
Hi all,
Im currently working on some alloy fender braces for the GC8 and wondered what sort of interest I would have on these as it would be nice to get some numbers. The standard braces are made from thin sheet steel with some creases in so I managed to get hold of some Grp N rally ones and these are a lot more rigid but weigh a lot more aswell so I have developt some alloy replacements these should be as rigid as the Grp N rally ver. but are roughly half the weight, Im looking to retail these at approx £140 for a set, let me know if your interested.
Here is a pic of the prototype, the retail version will have the box section angled at 45 deg at each end to cover the plate more and increase strength even more, hopefuly I will get the first retail version complete next week and will get some pics up

Rigidity and strengthening in the proper application of ones Subaru in the field of Rally
There is merit in bracing the strut tower to the bulk head, how much difference this would make in a road car ???
Same general principle as a strut brace I guess.

Ye I see where your coming from 53wrx I know SUMMMIT and GT SPEC do the full on braces but how much do they weigh??? surly if you are stripping and light weighting a car for track days they you dont want something like that, if you rally the car then yes, but for road use something that heavy duty is not needed, sorry if I did not make it clear
these are designed more towards track use, they can be used for rally but wont be as rigid as the SUMMIT and GT SPEC items

Summit ones are mind bendingly light and boast a monocogue aluminium triple tube shaft making them light and strong lol. I run their subframe and the front cross member bracing is very light indeed
If you could triangulate your design it would be better and more convincing in it's application IMHO
On the basis that this is a reasonably expensive item to buy it needs to be considered properly effective rather than just better than what's there already, it needs that secondary bracing on the bulkhead IMHO.
Summit ones go for c.£200+ VAT depending on when you buy it, shows etc....

What is IMHO??? ahh didnt realist the summit ones where alloy thort they where steel like the other ones ive seen, ill scrap this prototype off then lol, at the end of the day it wouldnt be cost effective for me to produce these at a competitive price to rivel SUMMIT

'In my honest opinion', snet protocol used to insist you state you were speaking as an individual not a general concensus lol. don't scrap anything mate, trial it on your car see how you get on.
Beatrush do one, and I have seen some other very nice attempts but not for UK supply. Beatrush make some really good quality gear for the impreza. I get anything I need through an ebay seller in Japan. Type in Beatrush into ebay and you'll find a seller called laille. If there is anything you want email this seller and they list it up for you to buy
