Unhappy Creaking Suspension... ;-(

Hi All,

My rear suspension seems to have a weird creaking noise (old boat/door) when driving over hump etc....

I have a MY03 STI which has standard suspension....

Would anyone know the cause of this issue, and how I can resolve this?

Would I need to replace my suspension? If so which coilovers would you recommend? BC/Tein etc...

Many thanks for your help...

J

Hi mate, it looks like you're experiencing the very well-known STI creaking suspension problem. A lot of people have experienced this and taken it as an opportunity to upgrade to aftermarket coilover suspension, or replace the shocks with new ones from the manufacturer.

However there is a guide here:

http://www.scoobypedia.co.uk/index.p...wageRearStruts

Which shows how you can re-grease the shock absorbers, thus eliminating the creaking for the forseeable future. I've done this myself with my STI suspension and it worked a treat. It's definitely cheaper than upgrading to coilovers too!

All the best.

Tom

Try jacking up the rear then drop it down again, this may re-seat the rear springs/dislodge any stones caught in the spring coils?
