I had a similar prob with starting and cutting out, it turned out to be the crank sensor.

New or secondhand MAF, what fault codes are you getting now and what is dsbc?

Can you see these ',.' on your keyboard?

Sounds like the same problem i had with my 1999 uk turbo,as you have no fault codes flash up ,my guess it may be the fuel pump. The next time the car cuts out ,when you switch the ignition on ,see if you can hear the pump priming(whirring ).If not then your pump is on its way out ,mine did this for about 3 weeks intermittently, till it eventually seized.

The fuel pump is in the fuel tank, under the rear drivers side seat, you should hear a mild buzzing from that area when you turn the ignition on. The noise you heard was more than likely the Boost Control Solenoid, and you should be hearing that too

Well worth it

It should save you money in the end as you should get to know what the problem is and be able fix it directly, which is usually cheaper than the internet diagnosis and process of illimination methord that you will recieve here
