The car is a uk00 turbo and wont engage/disengage any gears.

I have to start the car with my foot on the clutch and when the clutch is depressed, the gearbox crunches as if its only half in gear?

The gearstick will only move from side to side, cant get any gear even when the engine is turned off.

The clutch pedal feels ok.

Any ideas?

I bought the car like this to break but it looks in good nick, worst case is it needs a gearbox and clutch but is it possible it might be the release bearing? Either way, the 'box is coming out.
