As several of you know, I have been looking for an LPG conversion for the Scooby. I came across a company today that has perfected converting injected cars and would be up to trying a Subaru.
The big deciding factor is how many they would sell, so I need an idea of how many people would be interested.
The basic benefits would be CHEAP FUEL (about half price), increased octain level, lower emmisions ...
I would expect the conversion to cost up to £2500 by the time you add VAT.
Can you just post a yes rather that open a full discussion on the subject.

In principal yes (although 2.5K sounds too high) the other problem being there's no LPG within 45 Miles of me. So a yes / no / in the future.

Ps if the conversion happened to give >Bhp (remap for 100+ Ron fuel) it would be *very* popular.

Don't the government give a heavy subsidy toward the conversion?

It would be nice to see the government give some sort of tax incentive on company cars in reflection of the lower emissions that LPG gives. If they are serious about emissions, they will do this!

However - diesel used to be cheap! Before they started loading the duty on. Don't expect gas to be any different.

I saw a touring car race not so long ago, where one of the cars on the grid was running on calor. After all the banter about "make sure the pilot light don't blow out" the car went on to win the race. The Petrol cars got ahead at first, but as the engine temperatures rose, the gas car trashed the rest, coming from last to first in the space of a few laps and going on to win the race by a decent margin!

One final question - warranty. How would you stand??

I know that they fit them to Audi Turbos, so in principle, Yes.

Yes, but would the weight of the tank sinificantly effect the handling?

 

I would be very interested, but £2.5k sounds dear, I know the parts are available from about £550 , and have seen that most other cars would cost £750 - £1250 to have the conversion fitted.

Is there something in particular different about a scooby, also, does it matter what spec machine it is (ie UK or Jap, MY, Mods, etc)?
