I have a brand new and UNUSED Z32 orange label MAF - good for around 460bhp or so. It has the electrical connector/rubber boot and about 2-3 inches of 'pigtail' wiring.

These fit straight into the MY93-96 air trunking... but not sure about the MY97/98's?

Which MY do you have?

Its a 93, the one i have which is not working is the bigger diameter compared to the standard93wrx one.

I was told to look for an orange lable maf to replace the one which is broken, sometimes called a 22B or late sti MAF ?

Yes my Z32 is a straight fit for your OEM 80mm dia. air trunking (I originally bought it for my own 1993 WRX - but since replaced that car for a STi 5).

Its airflow is as good, power-wise, as the OEM MY97/98 orange label one. But as you said, those ones are 90mm dia and don't fit the MY93-96, as a straight swap.

You'd just need to get the Z32 wired up by the mapper and rescaled in the subsequent remap....
