Question Origin B2, RS232 to USB conversion - anyone done it here?

Hi,

Has anyone here converted the lead for an old Origin B2 (RS232 Serial link) to a USB one? I see that you can buy online lead converters, however I was wondering if they work. Origin do a cradle, but this costs £40, and I am looking for a cheap option!!

My new PC does not have a serial port so need a way forward. Any advice and/or help appreciated.

Cheers,

Mike

Those leads normally need a driver software installed on the PC, so as to mimic a serial "COM" port (so you can perform the downloads)... But don't know whether that's actually needed?

No reason to think that an RS232 to USB transverter won't work fine dude.

Thanks for the help - I will give it a try. Just ordered a converter for a couple of quid so when it comes I will see how it works.

Cheers again,

Mike
