Default engine check light on, car cuts out at 5000 rpm

hi, just wondering if any one can help, i have an early classic (among other cars) and the engine light is now displaying and the car cuts out at 5000 rpm any ideas i would be very gratefull thanks

i had the same issue, when u first start the car the check engine light should flash in a certain manner to inform u of the fault. a long flash is worth 10pts, a short flash worth 1pt. if there are multiple faults therl be a brief pause and then the new code. it will then repeat the codes all over again. took me 10min to get my head round it
i had a 22(knock sensor) and a 23(mass air flow sensor)

Surely you would need to connect the test wires first As per JGM's instuctions here,

hi my speedo has stopped working and i think i have error 33 3 longs and 3 shorts ?? would this put the engine in to limp mode 5k cut off ?
