Default 95 wrx Sti Knocking AF remap

Hi guys just bought a 95 wrx sti off my friend, it has an Apexi power fc ECU and a Blitz boost controller, he had the car sat in a garage for almost a year. I took it out for a little spin the other day and noticed when the boost was set to 1bar at higher revs the engine light flashed, on further investigation found out that this means the car is knocking, so i checked the APexi display to find a max knock of 60 which i hear is bad. The car was previously maped by Andy forrest, but since then a larger topmount intercooler has been added. I live in Aberdeen so have know idea were to take it to get mapped or looked at??

any suggestions?? will it be the old fuel in the car thats causing this...fuel filter etc...

cheers

So if the fuel is degraded would this cause the high knock reading??

if so this leads me to think the injectors are working over time flooding the cylinders with fuel due to the lack of detination thus causing early detination (knock).

Am I right??? if its not the fuel what could be the other causes of high knock??

I will drain the tank next week and run it on tesco 99 for a few days...

Take the car for a long drive off boost. Put some fresh fuel in there which ever one it was mapped for. It would be good to get the map checked over by a mapper just to be on the safe side.

Guarantee its the fuel. The fuel in mine was around a year old+ when I put it back on the road recently and was also getting knock counts in the 60s.

Now the fuel has gone and its filled up with V Power, the highest I get is the odd one in the 30s.

No need to drain the fuel, just run off boost as suggested until its gone. That doesnt take long in these cars!!
