as above is this possible with the uk car, i'm sure i've seen a few people have them using the rear demist switch.

think its just switchable boost not full maps but im not certain on that

 

yes,ecutek remaps usually have high and low boost settins via double clik on back window heater and acc pedal 2 the floor.

 

As above........it's not two individual map. The rear demist / full throttle thing just drops the boost.

Later JDM ECU's had enough room for 2 maps (megarom) I think it's called.

I like the idea of that - I think I'll get that done when I get mine EcuTeK'd. The low setting can be used as a "valet mode" - so that some ******** can't **** your car if they feel a bit joyridery...

 

How much later? I'm assuming from New Age...?

 

I have Ecutek mapped car and have the higher and lower boost jobbie. Helps keep a little more petrol in the tank on longer journeys.. . . . but only a little

I don't think Ecutek can do that on the JECS (although a switched valet mode is more than technically possible).

They only seemed to develop their fancy stuff on the newage cars after the other (Open Sauce etc) reprogramming solutions became available and started to offer added value functionality. As they still have an effective monopoly on the 99-00 solution it seems they can't be bothered improving it beyond the basic map tweaking it currently offers, which is a shame given the significant technical capability of the ECU.

There is also a practical problem with the 99-00 ECU in that it only has a 128K ROM, which gives far less space for "optional" features than is the case on the later newage unit. There isn't enough space to run a completely separate set of maps, for example, but it does contain a stack of option maps for manual and automatic transmission - and you can repurpose the auto trans ones to do all sorts of interesting things if you have the inclination.

Incidentally, if you want a tidy valet mode, disabling boost, alone, won't get you there as it'll still allow actuator pressure, so best part of 0.7 bar on a VF28. If you really want to spoil a potential joyriding mechanic's fun, a 2500rpm rev limit is what you want.

 

I think that it is from the Blobeye JDM's and on, as I have a 2004 Spec C and Bob Rawle is remapping it for me after some mods and will be carrying out an Ecutek Megarom remap.

ting tong get a tactrix open port

2 x open source maps (this is what im going for)

1 x v power
1 x v power + meth

ecuflash software available from tactrix website and you can switch the maps in your car via your laptop yourself

i have switchable maps on my 2003 uk sti, pretty sure its not just a boost cut option. could be wrong though
