Default Cam pulley Subaru WRX STI Type R 1997

I have been told that the exhaust cam pulley to break is a common fault with Subaru's and can happen during extreme weather conditions.
I have recently had a reconditioned engine fitted at the garage that is claiming that the above is true and that is why my car has broken down again. Can anyone please give any advice regarding this. Thanks

not sure where you are but i have never heard of the cam pulley breaking due to the weather unless you live in Siberia? the usual reason for the cam pulley to brake is either be gripped with mole/vice grips while doing the cam timing or hitting it with a hammer when trying to remove from the camshaft itself, either way i don't believe it down to the weather itself.
