gear box whine in reverse

i have just noticed a whine when i put the car in reverse is there any thing to be worred about my scobby is a 1995 wrx

All gearbox's whine when reversing as the reverse gear is a straight cut gear

YEA SORRY M8 I NO THAT I DIDENT EXPLAIN RIGHT THIS IS VERY LOUD AND IT DOING NOW WHEN IM SLOWING DOWN FOR INSTANCE APPROCHING A JUNCTION AND MY ENGINE CHECK LIGHT HAS JUST STARTED TO FLASH AS WELL

best get the fault codes read. Have you checked the gearbox oil level? Sounds obvious i know but thought id ask first...

no its a fair point m8 that is some thing i will check im more worred about the check engine light but will get that seen to as well
