Default Bloody Sunday Report

You guys might not necessarily know as I don't know if this has been on the national news or not.

But this report is being released today at a cost of a staggering £191 million pounds!

To me that is a complete waste of money that most certainly could have been put to better use elsewhere.
Who orders such an inquiry anyway and who approves it?

This report will not tell anybody anything that they don't already know.
Its going to make recommendations - on what exactly

The only people who benefit from this is the parasite lawers to the tune of £100 million

Makes my blood boil to hear Martin McGuinness giving it the holier than thou attitude about killing innocent people.
I presume he will now spend the same amount of money on an enquiry to bring IRA murderers to justice.

OPPS!! sorry,I've just remembered, it won't cost him anything because he was running the IRA.

Right so Blair ordered it, but who approved it such a large spend.
They must have known or had an idea of the horrendous costs that would be involved.

Jamie - you think it was justified?
Investigating something for a period of 12.5 years - I'd imagine within the first 2 years you'd know you were not getting any further.
******* waste of money is all it is.

We'll lets face it Les - it's not going to say the troops were guilty, because that would mean having to round them up and try/jail them

Whats it going to recommend - we'll **** only knows

Whats it mean for the families - not a lot really

As I said - complete and utter waste of tax payers money - but hey, at least the lawers got rich

There was an HMG report not long after the incident. This was generally seen as a load of bollox so another enquiry was almost inevitable. But common sense flew out of the window and why someone couldn't get to grips with the time and costs is beyond me.

And hardly anyone one is going to plough through it and actually read the detail. Perhaps they will look at the summary only.

But I think it will be fairly honest and I would be a bit worried if I was in a British uniform at that demo.

Twelve and half years, now in my reckoning, that's four THOUSAND five hundred and sixty five days, give or take, yet they only sat on 434 days. WTF were they doing the rest of the time?

We'll seems liek the report has been released.
Not bad - 30 millions words over 12 years.
An impressive 6.3 million pound a word

Basically Cameroon has apologised and said that troops in question has lost control and shot x number of innocent people

So basically £191 million for something we pretty much already knew FFS!

What are they going to do, because I guarantee thats whats coming next.
This was 38 years ago, the soldiers in question were in the late 20's lets say
So are they going to jail someone in there 60's - not they are not.
Et voila - the biggest waste of £191 million pounds ever!

I had to rewind the V+ when I heard the news mention the costs to make sure I heard it right. The time taken as well is a farce. Utter disgrace and those leading it should be booted out of any form top government/civil role for what is a just a p*ss take of pulic money.

Maybe an inqury is needed to ask why it took so long and why cost so much! (joke: enough money has been wasted as it is ).

Sure victims want answers. Here it is: they f**ked up. Victims were in the wrong place, some with common sense no doubt got away when they could before it turned too nasty, those that stuck around got shot. End of.

Victim's families on the news had me shaking my head; Putting troops on murder charges. When the slates of many murderers who were in the IRA are wiped clean? People can't have it both ways. And who is the blame; top ranks giving the orders or the troops firing the guns? Bearing in mind the later is trained and conditioned to follow orders with no questions. All this whilst Mcguinness pokes up above the parapet and sidesteps any comparisons to the IRA's own attrocities.

This report is only going to make victims relatives more bitter and vengeful. They aren't going to get their pound of flesh; as they won't be allowed to shed any blood in taking it.

(oh god, someone stop me, I'm quoting bloody Shakesperian dross )

ALi-B - we'll said.

So its not just me that sees this whole thing as a complete and utter waste of everything.
What happened happened for whatever reason.
People won't ever know why and won't be able to do a single thing about it - and as you quite rightly put will just **** them off even more.

Why is it never mentioned earlier on that day 14 British had been shot dead by the IRA.

And how about:

Enniskillen

Omagh

Mountbatten

Manchester

Hyde Park

Regents Park

Warrenpoint

Chelsea barracks

Brighton

Downing st

Birmingham pubs

Warrington

London docklands

Harrods

etc etc etc

So true, the money would have been better used to forge a better community in NI rather than faff around and just coming to an easy conclusion, I dont think anyone knows what happened 100%, never good though, hence it was about 16 years until the Para's set foot in NI again.

I still remember the video clip of two police officers being pulled from thier car and beaten / killed. Cant remember where abouts or when this happened, but was when I was a young chap and it was shown on the news.

Two cops, drove into the wrong area during a march, these guys were pulled from their car ( a VW passat ) beaten and killed for nothing, by a mob of crazed idiots. Still stays in my mind ! :-(

IRA / RUC / The whole area was a mess.

I suppose one thing you can say about the report is that it seems to be honest and certainly doesn't pull any punches. And when's the last time we had an honest report from HMG? dl

I heard the report exonerates the government from any kind of blame. Nice work (sarcasm).

Anyway - this might be rather crass question but does anyone know what this is all about in the first place? Why are we even over there? What's the history of this conflict?

Why can't we just get out of NI and let things be?

That was in Anderstown and it was 2 soldiers, not policemen.

None the less - its was most disturbing.
I won't go into the details - but I'll tell you something, the coroners report is even more disturbing than anything was broadcast on TV.
TV only showed the starting scenes - the report shows by picture and describes exactly how those poor lads suffered.

Yeah David - its honest, but thats all.
A waste of resource for 12 years.
Infact people should be sacked over it - but of course government don't that do they, you just get "moved" somewhere else

Because you lot came over here and pissed off the locals by taking their land.

I believe thats why you(and by you I mean I as a British citizen) are over here.

Yeah tell me about it. The more I learn as an adult the more I realise my school curriculum was sh1te for the real world.... We didn't learn about any other religions and certainly nothing about Ireland!

Shameful, no?
