Lamda sensor from halford
i have got a part number off scoobynet from previous posts , however when they showed me the sensor today at halfords it had only one black wire coming from it .part number 180398
The exisitng sensor has 3 wires any clues to help me.
Are there varying types , i think it was made by hotwire , do I need to ask for a specific type model , when i asked for an impreza they said they didnt stock it .
any help appreciated as the price is low in comparison to main dealer

Yea mate, I posted details of my halfords buy. As you say, they don't list Subaru, this is only because they don't have a loom adaptor to suit.
If you ask for a 3 wire Oxygen sensor (sometimes you get a blank look when you say lamda ) You then need a bit connector strip to fit the plug off your old sensor.
On the 3 wire IIRC the two whites are the heater + - and the black is the signal. Or was it the other way ?? Anyway the single colour is the signal, the heater is insulated from earth so the + - connections are not polarity sensitive.

one red ,one black and on white , i need to splice it and join it to the new sensor, can anyone help me with which wire connects to which wire ? ie orginal to new

when i fitted a 4 wire sensor i used a multimeter i found that 2 white wires were continous only 1 wire gave a resistance reading by putting the negative lead on the threads of the o2 sensor and the positive lead touching either one of the 2 remaining wires this then left me with one wire to connect process of elimination and it worked a treat.
