Chassis stiffened by a harness bar ?

From: Slowly rebuilding the kit of bits into a car...
So is this just snake oil ?
Or did anyone notice a change in their car's handling after fitting a harness bar ?

Oh Jeff,
you need to get down with the "yoof" scene....
It's a piece of scaffolding that fixes to the seat belt mounting points, to allow harness straps to be alligned more suitably in the car.
I very much doubt that most drivers would notice if you removed a strut brace, IMHO. I do believe a front lower brace can only be a good thing....

ive fitted a rear bolted cage to the bug and found no tell tale sign its stiffened anything BUT before i bolted everything down tight i used the car for work (it got dark so had to wait till another day) and found that the cage creaked and pulled slightly when driving firmly.
when i got the time to bolt it down hard i found the paint had rubbed away.it seems the car was flexing slightlty between floor and rear quarters.after fixing all movement had gone!
