Default New PC, i Tunes concern

I am waiting for a new PC to turn up. I have a good music library on i Tunes which I dont want to lose. Now I know I can back up onto CD or DVD and reload the new machine. But it works out a goodly number of CD's, my old steam machine doesnt do DVD's. I have a 500gb external hard drive which I can copy my other stuff to. Can I copy my iTunes music to this and reload from it onto the new machine?

Please understand I am not very PC minded and struggle at best.

Yes, just make a copy of your i-tunes folder then import to the new pc.

Dead easy, even a computer simpleton like myself managed it

I've backed it all up onto CD's, quite a number, so I'm hoping all will go well.

Just drag your entire music folder that itune stores the music in over to your external drive. Far easier than burning them to CD's.
