Hi i have tried searching but cannot find the answers to my questions, i have recently bought a 1995 WRX, i absolutly love it but find the suspension a little on the soft side, a friend of mine has just bought a STI of the same year as mine, now his suspension feels a lot firmer than mine, and has less body roll than mine, i have noticed that my front ARB is compleatly different to mine so my questions to you fountains of knowledge are:

Does the STI have different shocks/springs set up to WRX ?

Will the STI ARB fit on my car ? and will i have to fit the ally wishbones ?

anything else i will need to change to change mine to a STI suspension set up ?

The Sti has stiffer suspension (strut/spring) that will fit you car.

The STi front ARB will fit your car ONLY if you swap to front alloy arms, its the same thickness as your front ARB anyway.

You need to check the rear ARB, some earlier WRX were 17mm, the STi are 19mm, which is a useful upgrade.

The rear beam on the STi is more rigidly mounted, whiteline and others sell rear subframe lock bolts that are a great upgrade to the way the car feels (best bang for the buck you'll find).

You can gain the extra castor of the STi front suspension using replacemnt offset bushes, or go the hole hog and fit an 'ALK'.

instead of changing to an sti set up,why not just go aftermarket?
I would fit a whiteline rear anti roll bar and go for a decent set of coilover suspension designed for your car.Then you would have a set up better than the sti

 

Thanks guys, thought it would work out cheaper just to upgrade to STI suspension, plus i dont want anything too harsh as its mainly a road car not track

 

well i got it up on a ramp next to my mates STI and noticed i have ally wishbones already, but who ever fitted the arb fitted it wrong !!
so basically i have STI suspension already the the front arb mounted wrong made it feel a bit saggy !!
Saved me a few quid, my missis will be happy
